Matt_JSUMusic_2008.pdf As part of the "college offer", I contacted a local university with a solid music program; of course, the effort turned-out to not benefit anyone - but that has and will not stop me from trying; after all, the

InAWord_Grief_2005.pdf In a Word letters - the subject of death or grief is not one that any one of us favors; yet grief is a condition that goes beyond death.    Coincidently, my reading has included the grief that does not find closure (as is customary and healthy); grief of this kind is analogous to an open wound - it does

19"AGE TO AGE"  is a tribute to each posted age; and for this time, that age is 19.   Each month or so, the age will be changed and, in turn, will be updated either from previous writings, such as In A Word, or will be developed from scratch.   How we examine and reflect on our past is sometimes helpful in understanding the age in general and those who are themselves passing through in person.

My first year in college was tough going; the easier life of high school now gave way to the rigor and regiment of college life.  Somewhat independent but still missing life at home, friends and the way that it was before.   I must say the if I had it all over to do again, college would be a better experience, I think.  Those years are still with me however - and always will be.  I learned so much - not just about my program of study - but about growing-up and taking responsibility, making decisions...and living with the outcome or result.

This age is typically a transitional age because most kids are graduating from high school and trying to map their way into adult life; they are not quite adults...but they're not kids anymore either.   Somewhere in between is usually how most of us fair however - if we really want to honest about life.  On that honesty is the realization that most of us are figuratively still 19 and trying to transition to something...somewhere...somehow, except with less energy, more "baggage", and generally far less flexibility both in our bodies and minds.
