I am for US

Why When  Where  How
InAWord_StoneMountain_2005.pdf The time of year and rain remind me of the first year in Atlanta; having an annual pass to Stone Mountain, and living close by, we made it our "backyard"... Stone Mountain (GA) became our "lower 40"; from scouting to re-enacting to general visits with or without the dog, this rock became a monument to our family fun... In the summer of 2000,  we would take off down Five Forks...; and near a church you could see "the rock";  Brian-Wesley learned to yell, "Stone Mountain!"    It was wonderful...
InAWord_YooHoo_2006.pdf The expression (more than the drink) what the point of this writing; my daughter used the term occasionally...as did her great grandmother, Nelly  As far as bottled-drinks, a popular item was IBC Root Beer; the old-fashioned amber bottle seemed most appropriate for our ventures back in history  Besides the store-bought brands, we once purchased bottle and content at an event; and the old-time soda was a hit whether root bear or another flavor...they loved passing the bottle.
InAWord_Wagon_2006.pdf Well, we did not have a wagon, station-wagon...but only a Red Ryder Wagon; oh, and we had an old mini-van too... What a real wagon ride would be like?   Our old mini-van did get to the beach or a barrier island; it was great...it ran with some reliability  Simple, pack a cooler, throw in  an extra set of cloths, some dry food stuffs, plenty to drink...and we're off for a day trip...and sometimes two days...
InAWord_Lifesaver_2005.pdf I not sure if we ever needed a lifesaver; but I know that we bought a pack now and then  Candy and children make sense - as long as the conditions to run-off all that sugar; and one of my favorite were the old peppermint sticks   Purchased unwrap and in a plastic bag, the peppermint stick is soft and breath-friendly.  I know, it may be unsanitary but, "hey, they're kids...
nAWord_Victory_2006.pdf What is victory?  Coaches and other leaders have their own description or definition, but I say it's love... It may sound rather unusual, but love results in hope - and hope means promise of things to come - however mess-up the present... Love is about a decision - to follow the journey toward the source of love.   Yes, there lies the victory...where hate and anger will be no more.

"Unless you give yourself to some great cause, you haven't even begun to live."  - William P. Merrill

US"I am for US"  is a title inspired by the movie, "The Family Man"; in this movie, the presumed father and dad, played by Nicolas Cage, is reminded of his wife's support when she says (and repeats) "I am for us".

This is not the only inspiration for the Web page; as the insignia to the right is very close in style to that on a brass belt buckle worn by soldiers of a bygone era; indeed, I owned a couple of reproductions of the buckle and, some months ago, sent the last copy to my son as a keepsake of our relationship.

Being stamped into a brass and lead plate, the insignia is more than a military emblem; it is a token of my lasting relationship and prevailing commitment to that which I understand to be valuable and important.     Though many years have passed - and still more will likely pass before I see them again - I must be thankful for these children and faithful in my potential role as God gives me strength and opportunity.

When they were much younger, our relationship was not bound or constrained by the court; only because of the destructive nature of divorce has this relationship been irreparably damaged and, to my regret, forever affected by the hurt and harm imposed on them.  Even with these conditions, I remain forever and always...for US.
