The Last Full Measure

| LastMeasure_LoveForgiveness_11-28-08.pdf | What is love without forgiveness? How can we truly love (or be loved) unless we understand that to be forgiven, we must also forgive others. Jesus instructed us to forgive 7 x 70 - which is big number when you consider how difficult forgiving may be - but consider the alternative and its damage, what should we do? |
| LastlMeasure_Storyboard_11-28-08.pdf | Storyboard for that described below and included in the attachment; "let's go find some real heroes..." |
| InAWord_Perseverance_2005.pdf |
Perseverance cannot be underestimated; it the difference between surrender and sacrifice - even the ultimate sacrifice for those who hold the cause to be so precious and worthwhile... |
| InAWord_Deed_2004.pdf |
The scouts have a slogan, "Do a Good Turn"; well, if "turn and "deed" are synonymous, than doing a good deed daily is the goal; but sometimes life calls for a really BIG deed! |
| Coming soon: "Troop 11 Does a Great Deed" | While braving an evening of snow and ice, a local Boy Scout troop was able to put their principles to practice by saving the life of one of two young men over-exposed to the weather and elements to include flooding. |
| InAWord_Disabilities_2004.pdf |
Disabilities describe limitations...but not necessarily liabilities; to clarify, someone who is disabled is not responsible for their disability (s), but must try to live with these limitations and challenges. When I consider and observe those who have such challenges, courage comes to mind; yes, courage from the one...and love of the others... |
| After that: "Seth and the Step-Father" | Step-parents are sometimes called on to accept (or adopt) much when blending or acclimating to another family. This is a story of Seth who found such a step-father; a child who has such courage through his challenges, and the other who offers love much needed |
“The Last Full Measure”
is
not an original phrase; but is derived from Abraham Lincoln’s “Gettysburg
Address”.
This phrase has – since first learning of its origin – been the mantra for giving your all…using every ounce of mortality and, God willing, a bit of immortality.
A “Full Measure” may be the last measure but, as Charles Colson said in one of his books, “If nothing is worth dying for, than nothing is worth living for…”
This Website has great potential because it will periodically feature a story of someone that seemingly gave their last full measure ostensibly for something (or someone) that they believed in – for which they held in high esteem or regard…a nd were willing to give much…perhaps all…
Jesus said, “Greater love has
no one than to lay down his life for another”.
Going further however, Jesus instructed us to pray for our enemies
– to Forgive them that we may be forgiven
(Matthew 6). How
then shall we live?; God grant us the strength to give willingly the
last full measure. Courage
my son…Courage.
