In
December of 2006, while working at Grumman in St. Augustine, I received
this fascinating mosaic of digital pictures that formed what became the
most famous shot of the war...perhaps of our history

This
page is dedicated to Howard Lee Rainer who, at this time, is active in the
Marine Corps League; and prior to this service, retired from the Corps in 1978. This page will include some background on his life dating as far
back as childhood - but will also consider some of the present as well.
Besides his present call is a background as a nurse, a career soldier and his boyhood experiences as an Eagle Scout growing-up in northeast Alabama. Within these phases of his life should come a rich collection to add periodically to this page. The first two of this collection will be some accounts of the Corp and of his teen years delivering the Birmingham paper.
It is an opportunity to feature my father on a Web page; and I hope to learn much about him...that I can pass-on to others.
