"Music takes us out of the actual and whispers to us dim secrets that startle our wonder as to who we are, and for what, whence, and whereto . " - Ralph Waldo Emerson
"THE
MUSIC MAN" is a tribute to those who are talented enough and
determined to play, march, sing, dance and do any and all of the performing arts
by way of school or some other organization. The choice of the horn
for this page is personal - but it signifies the compilation of the music corps
much as the symbol or insignia does in the military or similar.
As spectacular the musical ("The Music Man"), and as dazzling as a band can be, this page has been created with the presumption of limited experience and knowledge in such things - but with the desire to pay tribute none-the-less. Taking the words of some artist - of music and the those who appreciate music - a storybook has been initiated (posted above) with the intent of expounding on each. One music composer writes of his first composition while another describes himself as being so-close to music that to remove it would require surgery.
With
a personal bend toward folk music and essentially no repertoire in the finer
music of band and concert, I begin this project - and perhaps can garner some
wisdom from what is learned and applied in the writings. For
