Service & A Lube

"Service & A Lube" is about the old service or filling station; it is about that place where you not only filled-up... but also received such service as oil checks, tire inflation and a garage for the serious problems. These service stations may not have had much in the way of eatables, but if you car needed care, you came to right place.
I vaguely remember service stations as kid; by the time I was old enough to notice, the chains were transitioning to self-service and the once-offering of a garage was giving way to groceries and other incidentals.
Occasionally I will see some remnant of these places of the past; maybe an island with some apparent connections, an overhang and some semblance of signage, the garage and small office. In one example, the once-station has been remodeled into a restaurant bearing the name, "filling station". In other cases, the garage may still be in use - though the pumps and other features are long gone.
For most of us, the only recollection may be some old movie or weekly feature in black&white...but with the grim realty that the price to fill-up (with full-service) was comparable to the current price per gallon.
