"You need three things in the theater - the play, the actors and the audience - and each must give something"
- Kenneth Haigh
"At
the Theater" is similar to "My Book
of the Month" except that it presents a play, musical or movie
that has
been viewed or seen recently. No, I am not a critic of the performing
arts, but am just looking for material to write on; thus, why not include
something in way of theater or live entertainment?
I have seldom, if ever, been disappointed by a live production - such as play; and, for many years, made a practice of going to a play or dinner theater. The last play that I attended was at the local college or university and, once again, I was not disappointed; but on the contrary, found the story and cast to very entertaining - and representative of the drama of real life.
Besides live theater, several movies at the local theater have been somewhat enjoyable or meaningful; and as movies have been the main course, I will probably present a movie more often than a play or other live production. Maybe a little improvisation is in order...
I was well into my years before really tasting the arts - and finding theater and live productions to be very appetizing. My only regret was not starting earlier! So without any further introduction, and with some trepidation, let me try my hand at commentary on a play or movie.
