Time&Season_Account_05-05-08.pdf Like taking inventory, giving an account is an examination or assessment.  Is your glass half-empty or half-full?  Well, that depends on your perspective and who really cares...

"There is a right time to destroy...and another to construct." - Ecclesiastes 3

Within the family of For a Time & Season, "Account for the Season" is about more than the some basics of accounting; it is about the desire and determination to know one's self by looking first at Christ and, by a growing understanding of our savior, seeing who were are...and are becoming.

When we diligently look, the light of Christ reveals that condition of our heart...and exposes this condition.   Scripture describes this experience (or practice) as though looking into a mirror:  now we see a poor reflection of Christ - or the condition of our heart is not like Christ; but then we will see face to face - but our hearts must become more like Christ...

This light not only reveals the condition of our heart but it establishes an attitude of gratitude; as basic sense that life comes ( begins and ends) from God...and is a gift.  This basic realism can be ignored, rejected or all too forgotten;  thus leading to an insatiable - even miserable life.   But if this realism is embraced (or accepted), the result is a heart of gratitude and thanksgiving.    Even in the matter of great losses comes this basic realism that God holds life in his hands; and, once more, he holds the world in his hands...

Still comes the present, human-condition of which we all struggle; this creeping attitude of want and self-service that opposes and defies the realism of life.    This human-condition is met with God's discipline, and at times, a brokenness;  aimed at increasing the light or making the heart more like Christ.  Yet God is loving and merciful and, from brokenness comes an ever stronger sense...of life - a more distinct image of Christ reflected in your life.
