A Time to Hit the Bricks

"Sooner
or Later bad luck hits us all." - Ecclesiastes 9
Within the family of For a Time & Season, "A Time to Hit the Bricks" draws on the metaphor "hit the bricks" - which means to leave...and not come back...with emphasis on the later. Naturally, such an ultimatum is considered bad - or "bad luck" to draw on the key verse above.
To touch-on the content of the writing (posted above), "nothing happens by accident to the one who truly believes in Christ". On this belief - even fact - is the realization that "bad luck", however perceived, is not by chance (fate or accident); but for the believer, it is foreordained...or known by God before hand.
Why do bad things happen? Or, to coin the title of a book, "Why do bad things happen to good people?" Bad things happen because bad things are present...in our world - and cannot be avoided or averted in the course of life. Still, the question remains and so...I hit the bricks - or I go for a walk.
To walk is not only to get some exercise, and possibly enjoy God's beauty, but to think about these questions - to ponder these questions. A walk has been the common practice for many years and, while I may not solve the problem or find an answer to the question (s), some exercise is always good...and maybe more.
