A Season of Fear

Fear is something I've experienced, read about and written about; why it is all around us - but what can we do...and who should turn to for help? |

"It’s
best to stay in touch with both sides of an issue. A person who fears God deals
responsibly with all of reality, not just a piece of it." -
Ecclesiastes 7
Within the family of For a Time & Season, "A Season of Fear" was the first writing that specifically addresses the condition of fear - though in abstract to some features or characteristics of fog and smoke.
Fog is nothing more than a cloud at ground level; yet it can reduce visibility...which causes accidents. Anyone who must contend with fog as a problem of the profession knows the danger that lurks; thus, they respect this occurrence of nature.
Smoke is like fog but is accompanied by a acrid odor - sometimes lethal! Generally where there's smoke, there's fire; so the risk or danger of smoke is more than visibility - but includes the energy creating the smoke and the sometimes asphyxiating odor that is the primary concern.
If traveling, fog can be a concern; but whether traveling or not, smoke can be a concern. Both fog and smoke are causes of fear; but while fear may loom or hover like a fog or be as pungent as a smoke, it may soon lift or dissipate and light appears again...and another day comes.
