A Season of Scales

"Scales" refer to the so-called Scales of Justice; and how I've learned that unless the truth be known (or presented), justice is miles away... |

"Fear God. Do what he tells you. And that's
it. Eventually God will bring everything that we do out into
the open and judge it according to its hidden intent, whether it's good or
evil." -
Ecclesiastes 13
Within the family of For a Time & Season, "A Season of Scales" is a continuation of "A Time for Jail" that begins the second of two such occurrences. Unlike the first occurrence, that was more a matter of hours, this stay lasted for several months...with opportunity to become a real student of the so-called system of justice.
Justice is a relative term: the more truth...the more justice. But for the System of Justice, the realistic relevance is: the more money...the more justice. I think it was the late Johnny Cochran who said: "In America, justice is the color green". Given the trend of the "greenback" these days, such justice is not worth much...
To the right, the "scales of justice" are seldom balanced - or even fair; where arrest occur without evidence - or legitimacy to a charge; and the Prosecution uses incarceration - and even the expected exploitation of youth - to "persuade" a plea bargain...rather than balk for an expensive trial. Among the lessons learned is the prevailing concept of the 3-R's (Re-election, Retainers, and Retirement) or the basic premise that, at the end of day, all that matters is a job...
Through this course of captivity, the predominate question was: "what about the truth?"...but as I have learned, the courts are too busy Prosecuting to be concerned with the truth. Expediency is the modus operandi of the courts - where the end (to prosecute) justifies the means...and the scales are in dire need of calibration...
