What is Unstoppable?  Comments on the Unstoppable
Unstoppable_Introduction_01-24-09.pdf "I am Unstoppable" said the super-human character illustrated in my oldest son's latest art; and yes, I was reminded of it only the other day, when...
InAWord_UNSTOPPABLE_2005.pdf Here at last is the much spoke of and highly regarded account of "UNSTOPPABLE" as first seen on my oldest son's art work many years ago...thanks!
InAWord_Metal_2005.pdf What does it mean to be "tested by fire...or in the furnace"?   Metal is made when ore is purified in the fire - but how does that it apply to the person?
IRONJOHN.pdf Who was the original iron man?  No, it wasn't from the title or a 70's British Rock band...Try Grimm's Tales
InAWord_Wilberforce_2006.pdf William Wilberforce was a force indeed; as portrayed in the movie, Amazing Grace, he was an ardent advocate for anti-slavery in England.  As an MP in the House, he devoted decades to this cause... on the basic premise of compassion and humanitarianism - along with the first-hand accounts of his friend, John Newton.
InAWord_Perseverance_2005.pdf Perseverance cannot be underestimated; it the difference between surrender and sacrifice - even the ultimate sacrifice for those who hold the cause to be so precious and worthwhile...

"His belly is armor-plated, inexorable - unstoppable as a barge...there's nothing on earth quite like him..."

    - Job 41, The Message

The inspiration for this page and title comes from an artwork that my oldest child completed when he was much younger - probably around seven.    As I recall, the painting was done in watercolors and featured a very authoritarian figure wearing a star.   I don't remember much more about the work except that above the figure was the caption that read "I am unstoppable".

Well, "stop" is not a big work for a little guy; but "unstoppable" is a pretty big word.   To make such as claim - though in the imagination of a boy - is to say that whatever this figure is whether human or superhuman, it will not be denied or deterred from its purpose.

It is seldom that I hear this word, but as of late, I did see it on a banner posted to a garage.   Using the term as a question (rather than proclamation), the Ad pertained to car brakes (that it may be time to get them checked-out).  I also found the term in the electronic version of The Message.  Referring to a great leviathan (or sea dragon), the book of Job describes the might of this beast as, among other things, "unstoppable"...yet, there is more to come.

When we think of some hard substance, IRON comes to mind.  I know, it's not as hard as some metals, but it sure sounds like it should be.  If iron is strong, and iron sharpens iron as we read in the Bible to describe the practice of one man helping another, than how is "our metal" tested for its strength?   How does the Unstoppable become unstoppable - or at least strong enough to help another?
